How to install WPS Office on Windows
Use the official installer only. Then open a copy of a real Word file. wpsoffice.io does not host the EXE. Windows 7 is still listed on Kingsoft’s Windows page if a lab PC cannot move to Windows 10.
Step 1
Open the official download
Go to wps.com/download or Microsoft Store ID 9NSGM705MQWC. Skip third-party “WPS Office download” sites. If a page asks you to turn off Windows Security, leave it.
Step 2
Run the installer
Open wps_office_inst.exe, choose a language, accept the license, click Install Now. The starter file is about 5.1 MB. Templates and the PDF toolkit then download extra files. Plan several GB of disk once the suite is complete.
Step 3
Check a real document
Open a .docx copy, not the only original. If the ribbon looks like Word, you are done. Ads on the free build are normal. See free vs Premium if they block your work.
Step 4
Optional: set PDF default
If double-clicking a PDF still opens the browser, right-click a PDF, Open with, WPS Office, and set as default. If a PDF is 2 KB, it is a failed download, not a WPS bug.
Website installer vs Microsoft Store
The website installer is the usual “WPS Office free download” path and covers Windows 7 through 11 as listed by Kingsoft. Microsoft Store (9NSGM705MQWC) is better if your PC already uses Store updates. Both should come from Microsoft or Kingsoft, not a file-hosting blog.
