PDF not opening in WPS Office

Most failures are a bad download, a browser preview, or a password. The PDF format itself is rarely “invalid”.

1. Step 1

   Check file size

   A 2 KB “PDF” is almost always a failed download. Re-download on stable Wi-Fi.

2. Step 2

   Open in desktop WPS

   Skip the browser viewer. Right-click, Open with WPS Office. Set WPS as the default PDF app if double-click does nothing.

3. Step 3

   Password or scan

   A password box means the file is locked, not corrupt. WPS cannot invent the password. Huge scanned PDFs can look frozen. Give them time or compress a copy.

4. Step 4

   Confirm the file elsewhere

   If Adobe or the browser also fails, the download is the problem. If only WPS fails, try a second official build or another reader just to test.
